You choose from 8 levels of difficulty in the form of different coloured belts then dive into as many 30-second levels as you wish. Adventure mode is a last-as-long-as-you-can romp. First off, the game throws you into a very tight arena-type room with little space for manoeuvre and challenges you to clear it in thirty seconds. You get an ominous siren after 20 seconds to signal that an indestructible nasty will soon arrive. The actual challenge from room to room rises well. One death ends the level (in Tally mode) making that 15 seconds delay to get back into the game seem VERY long. --PRESENTATION & DESIGN--Progress is displayed by showing which of the 89 rooms have been cleared and with which coloured belt. The game takes you to this screen every time you finish a room which is a great, at-a-glance progress system. The sound is ambient and tunnel-like. When entering a room you get that echoey industrial sound which adds a suitable edge to the game's atmosphere. Explosions and the deaths of enemies is satisfying especially those that require a number of hits to be dispatched. Rooms are lit with a Tron inspired neon-lighting theme.--CONCLUSION--Like most twin-stick shooters this is not a game you'd normally play for long stretches. However, for a fifteen or twenty minute blast it's a great pick-up-and-play game. There is a bit of back and forth screen hopping when changing difficulty but no biggie. 5/5For the full review of this and other games please check out or follow my curator page at:Parsons' Garden. This game is really very bad. I should nearly complain for a refund. If you know anybody with this game please make sure they are not mentally or emotionally damaged.. If you really like trippy, psychedelic twin-stick shooter action, then this game is for you! I personally gave it a heavy "meh". It was fun but just not my style of game. It tries to be Geometry Wars all hopped up on Red Bull.. Trippy twin-stick shooter from the early XBLA days. Was pretty hot♥♥♥♥♥♥back then, but I guess it's kind of ordinary 7(!) years later. Has an addictive scoring and ranking system, I'm gonna keep this one perma-installed.. Don't reference Nex Machina. Don't reference Nex Machina. Don't reference Nex Machina. People are tired of hearing you yap about that.Mutant Storm: Reloaded feels like a prequal to my self-titled all-time best arcade twinstick schmup Nex Machina. What we have here is a bullet-hell game with a series of static single-screen levels. You start with three credits, and try to get as far as you can. The only powerups are a few different weapons and a score booster. The different weapons only last a few moments. The local co-op is cool, too.At first bootup, this feels quite dated, but the fun is absolutely still there. What's cool about this one compared to Nex Machina is that 1) you can run it on a toaster, and 2) it's a fraction of the price. Sadly there are no leaderboards, which can go along way for an arcade shooter like this. Pros:+Regardless of how old this is, the fun is absolutely still there+Simple to learn, difficult to master; very satisfying, too+Any twin-stick fan should have this in their library+Can run on a toasterCons:-No leaderboards-More modern versions of this have a bit more bells-and-whistlesFor five bucks, any twin-stick fan will have a ton of fun.
